One full-year course in General Biology/Zoology including laboratory session; one full-year course in Humanities or Social Sciences [or two semester-long courses from two separate disciplines]; the equivalent of two full-year courses from the following Chemistry courses: i) General Biochemistry without laboratory session, ii) General Chemistry with laboratory session, iii) Organic Chemistry with laboratory session. Medical students must have completed a Basic Rescuer Level C [Adult, Child, and Infant] CPR course within a year prior to registration in the medical program.

The Coterie offers a wide range of activities and services, including social events for English undergraduates; seminars given by Western alumni and other Canadian writers or poets; as well as academic information about and assistance with English courses. In addition, The Coterie seeks to forge a strong bond between faculty and students by increasing the communication between the two parties, which follows with the club's ultimate goal of fostering a positive and exciting learning environment for English students at Western.
